Digitised mobile micro-insurance platform

Challenge

Insurance group MMI, seeking to expand its footprint across Africa in partnership with mobile leader MTN, wanted to launch a mobile-based micro-insurance product with multiple payment system integration and USSD capabilities.

Solution

Harnessing the PaaS of Azure cloud, EOH implemented a platform to control the flow of multiple transactions for multiple systems, built a digital portal supporting the call centre, allowing for the management of leads and campaigns, as well as testing all integrations to ensure the system can handle load and response requirements.

aYo’s multi-tenant PaaS application is scalable, easy to maintain, reduces total cost of ownership and supports rapid onboarding and deployment in other countries.

aYo’s systems offer 24/7 multilingual support, transaction traceability across all systems, security, transaction logging and guaranteed delivery. USSD driven requests are processed via a robust, scalable engagement layer within the MMI environment. The web portal effectively facilitates call centre activities such as claims, services and management of leads.

aYo, rolling out to MTN customers across  Africa from end 2016, allows users to apply for and buy insurance cover using their mobile phones. MMI Holdings expects the new service partnership to create new revenue streams for MMI, help achieve significant scale, explore new market opportunities and capitalize on the growth of micro insurance on the continent.
